Exxon Mobil PNG Limited, the operator of the PNG LNG Project, led the country's first-ever LNG project and largest investment in Papua New Guinea.
The PNG LNG Project covers a large footprint, near Port Moresby to, Kopi in the Gulf Province, to Moro in the Southern Highlands Province, to Hides in the Hela Province, and along the Highlands Highway to Lae.

The Project began its journey in Papua New Guinea in 2007 when Exxon Mobil saw a window of opportunity in the rapidly growing natural gas market in Asia.

From here the idea of PNG LNG rapidly progressed with Project visionaries convincing potential LNG customers, lenders and investors that the PNG LNG Project could be possible, amid all the challenges it presented.
What we see today is truly an engineering wonder, not so much because of what it is, but rather where it is and how it was built.

Thousands of tonnes of steel pipe and modern industrial plants had to be installed in one of the most remote, rugged and culturally complex places on earth. This also had to be done on time, and in an environmentally responsible and culturally sensitive manner in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world.
With outstanding collaboration, sound engineering and creative problems-solving this was achieved completing Papua New Guinea's first-ever LNG Project.
Over four years of construction, the project has worked with local communities, local businesses and government to develop a unique gas project that has attracted the attention of the world. The support of these partners was crucial in making the PNG LNG Project come to fruition.

As the PNG LNG Project has been constructed over the years, it has brought new opportunities to local businesses and Papua New Guinea citizens, directly and indirectly contributing to the economic growth of the country.
