Primary School Students Celebrates Independence Day.

Proudly Papua New Guineans celebrate their special events using their traditional BILAS dressing or decorations with feathers of Bird of Paradise, Parrots, eagle, cassowary, different types of CUSCUS skins, colourful bush leaves and flowers, beaches, toea shells, BILUM caps and traditional paints.
In Papua New Guinea, we have 807 types of traditional BILAS decorations.
To display all these 807 decorations are during the National events like Mt. Hagen Cultural Show in Western Highlands Province, Goroka Show in Eastern Highlands Province and Wabag Show in Enga Province. They are all in the Highlands Region of Papua New Guinea.
But, one of the very, very special day for the whole country of Papua New Guinea to display their cultural BILAS decorations and
dances at their own towns, districts and villages are every 16th day of September in every year.

This is the only day of country's independence date.
Therefore, people of Papua New Guinea goes so while and proud to celebrate together.
We have so far 38 celebration days have gone. Which means, 'Papua New Guinea is now 38 years old from the Independence date, 16th September, 1975 to 16th September,2013.'
The following Photos and videos are the participants in one of the primary school students at St. Peter's Primary School in Port Moresby in regarding the 38th independence celebrations in 2013.
The St. Peter's Primary School students made well in their 38th celebrations accordingly with their provincial flags because, they are students from else where in the 22 provinces in Papua New Guinea.
They have brought and displayed their original cultural style dances and singing traditional songs using their own languages from their provinces.
They have also explained all about their provincial cultural styles and the definitions of the designs and colours on their provincial flags.
In our experience today, students can help to take an active interest in and hope for the success of such events like this emotionally.
They said, "we are proud because we are Papua New Guineans and God blessed our nation."
